Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Debbie Gelber originally hails from Pittsburgh, PA and received her Bachelor’s Degree (Magna cum Laude) in Music Education – Choral Emphasis and Master’s degree in Piano Performance from West Virginia University. After teaching in the public schools for 10 years, she completed her D.M.A. at Texas Tech in 2011. She wrote the curriculum for the Collaborative Piano – Vocal Emphasis degree that she holds. Her dissertation was titled: Cabaret Songs: A Comparison of the Styles of Benjamin Britten and William Bolcom. Professor Gelber has been teaching Choir, Music Appreciation and various other music courses at SPC for 12 years. In addition to being an active area performer and music director, she is also an avid marathoner.
